Foam Laminating

Kayfoam can manufacture Polyethylene foam in many different sheet sizes and thicknesses, but if the thickness you require is above what the manufacturer supplies then the sheets or rolls need to be heat laminated to a greater thickness to overcome this. Kayfoam can heat laminate up to 250mm in thickness.

With the capabilities of laminating both cross-linked polyethylene foam and non-cross linked polyethylene foam of varying widths and thicknesses, we can work with sheets and rolls up to 1000mm wide up to a finished thickness of 250mm thick if required. The machine produces consistent, quality, laminated polyethylene foam sheets time after time, and works purely on heat and pressure so no adhesive is used in laminating the blocks to a greater thickness.

Once the machine is set to the required thickness, the process requires the operator to place two polyethylene foam sheets either side of an electrically heated blade. The blade then melts the surface of each of the sheets which are then brought together into contact and driven through the machine with knurled rollers. The laminated bond has the equivalent strength to that of the individual sheets, therefore the integrity and consistency of the polyethylene foam are not compromised.
